To Our EVOLVEkids Family:
I wanted to reach out to all of you and share with you how EVOLVEkids is responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). At EVOLVEkids, we have been monitoring this situation since late January, but since there are now multiple confirmed cases in Illinois (but thankfully none in our immediate area), we thought it prudent to discuss the steps we are taking to keep your children safe and healthy at EVOLVEkids. As I have owned and operated multiple child-based businesses over the last 25 years, I am well versed in the germ elimination game. In our 5 years at EVOLVEkids, I have taken great pride in the compliments I receive from all of you regarding the cleanliness of our gym.
But in light of this developing situation, over the past month we have redoubled our ongoing vigilance to keep the gym clean. In February, we reached out to the manufacturers of our equipment, and obtained their guidance for “best practices” on keeping the equipment disinfected. In addition, we have been following CDC guidelines regarding cleaning and disinfecting for COVID-19.
After careful deliberation and based on the preventative measures we have been implementing, EVOLVEkids will remain open.
Moving forward, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
If your child is sick, please keep them at home and do not attend class. Any child that presents with cold or flu symptoms will not be allowed to take part in class activities so please think ahead.
Before entering the gym, we ask that your child wash their hands in our bathroom. We also have hand sanitizer available, but soap and water is the most effective cleaner.
In addition, we will be issuing further guidance on our lobby policy. If possible, we encourage you to drop off your child and wait in your car to create a space of social distancing in the lobby.
We fully understand that some of you may not feel comfortable having your child in class at this time. Please know that we will keep your child’s space in class open for them for when you decide to return.
In closing, I would like to note that these are not only challenging times for us as adults, but the news of the Coronavirus can be very confusing to children. One of the primary reasons we have decided to stay open at this time is to provide the stability and structure that the routine of attending classes provides. Physical activity, in a place that they love being, is an important coping mechanism for children.
Of course, Coronavirus news is rapidly evolving, and if there are any changes to our schedule at EVOLVEkids, we will alert you immediately. EVOLVEkids is nothing without our “kids”, and we are committed to always keeping them safe and sound.
Sincerely, Heidi Lawless Owner, EVOLVEkids
